First off: You can email me at stephanie.swenson07@gmail.com
My name is Stephanie, and I’m a junior at Grinnell College, which you have never heard of unless you are also a student (or have been in the past), live in Iowa, know a lot about liberal arts colleges, or are just plain super. I imagine that there are other reasons that you’ve heard of it, but I have never been a fan of brainstorming.
Originally, I am from southern New Mexico, which is a super awesome place, mostly on account of its being a desert. It is kind of like living on Dune (some of you may know it better as Arrakis) except water is not quite as rare. And we don’t wear inconvenient water-retention suits. So it is not at all like Dune, whatever.
At Grinnell, I study French (among other things), so this year I decided to study in Nantes, France. For the whole year. Stephanie, you may ask, why did you decide that? To that, I would respond: frankly I am not sure, but whatever!
While I’m here, I get to do all these cool things!: study French language and culture, live with a real-life French family (they are very very nice), and go to definitely not-made-up islands with giant mechanical animals (and if you do think that’s made up, google “l’Ile de Nantes” and come back when you’re not feeling so smarmy).
Basically I am living it up in very-pricy France, attending a Baptist church, reminiscing about how inexpensive things were in Taiwan, missing you, and generally experiencing hopefully a lot of growth spiritually, personally, emotionally, etc.
I hope you will be doing the same wherever you are (just the last part, of course)!
